HC Deb 20 October 1942 vol 383 c1847W
Mr. Sorensen

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he will consult with Allied Governments respecting the extent to which the Atlantic Charter applies retrospectively to areas and peoples acquired by one Power from another by force; and also with the Government of China as to the relationship of this matter to Hong Kong?

Mr. Law

Any interpretation of the Atlantic Charter which may be necessary for the post-war settlement will naturally form the subject of consultation with Allied Governments. With regard to the last part of the Question I have no statement to make about the future of Hong Kong.
