HC Deb 15 October 1942 vol 383 c1775W
Mr. R. Morgan

asked the Minister of Labour the nature of the difficulties which impede the employment of the 36,226 women and girls who were wholly unemployed on 17th August last, particularly in view of the demand for women labour?

Mr. Bevin

Among the total of 36,226 women and girls there were 12,433 girls under 18, including many who had just left school and have since found work. Of the balance of 23,793 the great majority are married or for other reasons are immobile.
