HC Deb 14 October 1942 vol 383 c1646W
Mr. Brooke

asked the Minister of Supply whether it is his wish that those who still have binoculars or other kinds of optical or scientific instruments in their possession should offer them to his department by way of sale, loan or gift?

Sir A. Duncan

The campaign to obtain binoculars from the public, which was intended to fill a gap until our war production got going, was most successful. The production facilities for Service pattern binoculars and other optical instruments are now considerable and offers from the public are no longer necessary. I take this opportunity of thanking the many willing and generous donors who helped us through a difficult period.
