The question of the heating of schools during the month of October is governed by an administrative memorandum issued by the Board of Education after consultation with my Department. My hon. Friend will see from that memorandum, of which I am sending him a copy, that school central heating plants must not be used unless the school medical officer considers it essential, having regard to all the circumstances of the school, which would naturally include the number of children in attendance.
