HC Deb 06 October 1942 vol 383 c1091W
Major Conant

asked the Minister of Labour whether, in view of the shortage of practising midwives in Worcestershire and many other parts of the country, he contemplates the use of his special powers in order that those who have been trained as midwives may be induced to practise as such?

Mr. Bevin

As stated in my reply and in that of my right hon. Friend the Minister of Health to the hon. Member for Evesham (Mr. De la Bère) on 29th September last, consultations are now in progress between my Department and that of my right hon. Friend which cover the whole field of the supply and employment of midwives as well as of nurses.
