HC Deb 01 October 1942 vol 383 cc950-1W
Mr. Hannah

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer why property-owners who have jointly mortgaged their premises under the War Damage Act of 1941 must pay the whole premium themselves, though the holders of the mortgages have at least an equal interest; and will he arrange a more equitable sharing of the burdens?

Sir K. Wood

The whole question of the liability of mortgagees to share in the contribution was fully debated during the passages both of the original Act and of the recent amending Act and I see no reason to alter the decisions then taken.
