HC Deb 26 November 1942 vol 385 c904W
Colonel Carver

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether he is satisfied that the campaign against rats is being intensified; and what methods are proposed in country areas to deal with this menace against the nation's food supply?

Mr. Hudson

The answer to the first part of the Question is "Yes, Sir." The number of persons employed by county war agricultural executive committees on rat destruction work, while it falls short of the total number that could effectively be employed, has more than doubled during the past six months. The most effective method that is being employed is for farmers to enter into contracts with county committees to destroy all the rats on their premises.
