§ Mr. A. HendersonThe Answer to the first and third parts of the Question is "No, Sir." Soldiers must receive their emoluments under the Army pay code. Under a long-standing arrangement Army bands are allowed to accept a very limited number of outside engagements at fees approximating to civilian rates, otherwise musicians in the Army are treated in the same way as other soldiers.
