HC Deb 24 November 1942 vol 385 cc675-6W
Captain York

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food whether a producer-retailer or dairyman may distribute any surplus milk to his normal customers after all priority commitments have been made?

Mr. Mabane

A producer-retailer or retail dairyman may distribute amongst his registered customers the quantity of milk authorised on his certificate of requirements (M.K.2). Should the priority consumers not take up their full entitlement dairymen may distribute the surplus that arises amongst any of his registered consumers. A producer-retailer producing more milk than is authorised on his certificate of requirements may distribute the surplus milk amongst his registered customers provided he has previously notified the surplus to his regional milk supply officer and has received no instructions to divert the surplus milk to other distributors. Dairymen purchasing milk for resale should restrict their purchases to the quantity authorised on their certificate of requirements.
