asked the Home Secretary how many persons were summoned for exceeding the speed limit in the Metropolitan police area for the last three months for which figures are available; the comparative figures for the corresponding period of last year; and the comparative figures of convictions?

Mr. Peake

In the three months ended 31st October, 1942, 5,672 persons were summoned for speed offences and 5,623 were found guilty. The figures for the corresponding period in 1941 are 10,710 and 10,628.
