HC Deb 18 November 1942 vol 385 cc372-3W
Mr. David Adams

asked the Undersecretary of State for the Colonies whether he is aware of the shortage of private doctors in the Seychelles; and whether, as this is alleged to be due to the handicap of the rule which debars their patients from the use of the general hospital, he will examine the position with a view to relieving this shortage?

Mr. Harold Macmillan

I have no information to show that there is a shortage of private doctors in the Colony. I will make inquiries from the Governor as to whether the existing hospital rules contain any regulation such as is alleged; and whether in this or any other respect they need amendment in the light of modern requirements and procedure.
