HC Deb 10 November 1942 vol 383 cc2316-7W
Rear-Admiral Beamish

asked the Minister of Supply whether he is satisfied that the 31 casing and old tyre dealers, several of whom are rubber merchants and not casing dealers, now licensed from a total exceeding 150 and allotted from different areas, are handling effectively the trading in worn tyres for retreading; and has he any intention of controlling by prosecution, or otherwise, such dealers who have not been licensed but who appear to be pursuing their trade without a licence?

Mr. Peat

The 37 casing collectors were selected after careful investigation of their experience in and their facilities for dealing with part-worn tyres, and the returns so far made by them indicate that they are doing effective work. As regards the second part of the Question, I shall be glad to consider any instances of which my hon. and gallant Friend gives me particulars.
