HC Deb 10 November 1942 vol 383 c2275W
Captain Elliston

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food whether he will take steps to ensure this year a more equitable distribution of Christmas turkeys from England and Northern Ireland so that a fair proportion of the supplies may be available for the London wholesale markets?

Mr. Mabane

No, Sir. The institution of special arrangements for the sole purpose of dealing with a seasonal trade of short duration will not be justified. Arrangements which have been made regarding supplies from Eire should, however, enable a reasonable share of those supplies to reach the London wholesale markets.
