§ Mr. David Adamsasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he is 2320W aware that the Director of Moscow Military Hospitals, Dr. Shemelovich, states that the right kind of medical and surgical supplies are not being sent to Russia at present; that they are short of large quantities of sulphanilamide and its compounds, streptocide and X-ray apparatus, and also that a better exchange of the latest information between Russian, British and United States of America research foundations and doctors is required; and whether these matters will receive urgent attention?
§ Mr. LawNo, Sir. Medical supplies and equipment are being despatched to the Soviet Union on the basis of a list of requirements communicated officially by the Soviet Government to His Majesty's Government. As regards the suggestion that a better exchange of information on medical matters between this country and the Soviet Union is required, I would refer the hon. Member to the answer given to my hon. Friend the Member for the English Universities (Mr. E. Harvey) on 21st January. I would add that His Majesty's Government will at ail times be happy to give urgent attention to any requests for assistance or information which they may receive from the Soviet Government.
