§ Sir A. Maitlandasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Works and Planning whether he will cause inquiries 2305W to be made in regard to the removal of railings in Faversham, since there has been criticism in the town as to the unsatisfactory way in which the work has been done; and what steps he proposes to take to remedy the matter?
§ Mr. HicksI have had inquiry made. I am informed that, owing to inexperience on the part of the contractor employed, his standard of work was at the outset not satisfactory. With the introduction of closer supervision, however, this has been remedied and I understand that the work is now being satisfactorily carried out. Damage caused in the course of removal is being repaired.
