HC Deb 10 November 1942 vol 383 cc2272-3W
Sir W. Smithers

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food whether he will give an assurance that recent actions of his Department are not intended to dispense with the services of the Milk Board, Pig Board and Potato Board, constituted and manned by experts or so to alter their constitution that the experts are succeeded by civil servants?

Mr. Mabane

I can give my hon. Friend the assurance for which he asks in so far as the Milk Marketing Board is concerned. As regards the other boards mentioned in his Question, their constitution and functions were modified on the outbreak of war and the services of their staffs were transferred to my Department.
