HC Deb 26 March 1942 vol 378 c2178W
Captain Molson

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food whether, in view of the fact that officers are entitled to full military rations less the supper element, he will arrange with the Service Departments that officers' messes should not be allowed to buy food in the open market except to bring their entitlement in food up to the standard allowed to other ranks?

Major Lloyd George

The arrangements made for the supply of rationed foods to officers' messes in the three Services vary, but in all cases the supply is subject to the limitations in force for other ranks. My Noble Friend would not feel justified in recommending the prohibition of purchases in the open market of unrationed foods for officers' messes.
