HC Deb 26 March 1942 vol 378 c2181W
Colonel Carver

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether "any encouragement has been given to civil servants to help with munition manufacture or farm work in their spare time; and with what results?

Captain Crookshank

No such encouragement has been given, and I find it hard to see how civil servants who are fully employed in their ordinary vocations could make any useful contribution to the munitions and farming industries.
