HC Deb 25 March 1942 vol 378 c2009W
Mr. Thorne

asked the Home Secretary whether he can give any information in connection with the charge made against George Cull, for stealing 460,000 cigarettes and two motor cars, at the Southampton Police Court on Saturday, 14th March; whether any other men were charged; who bought the cigarettes and the two motor cars; and what action he intends taking?

Mr. Peake

George Cull and another man have been charged with stealing two consignments of cigarettes and two motor cars, and have been committed for trial at the Southampton borough quarter sessions which are due to be held at the end of this month. The matter is stillsub judice, and I am therefore not in a position to make any further statement.
