HC Deb 19 March 1942 vol 378 cc1684-5W
Colonel Burton

asked the Minister of Labour whether his attention has been called to the labour position at Bishops-gate Street Station, London, whereby through the slow action of certain porters the drivers of lorries have had to leave without the goods they had been detailed to collect; and what steps have been taken to remedy this state of affairs?

Mr. Bevin

I understand there is some difficulty here in regard to piece-work arrangements and that steps are being taken for a joint investigation by the company and the trade union concerned.
