HC Deb 19 March 1942 vol 378 c1676W
Mr. Mander

asked the Prime Minister whether he is now able to make a statement with reference to various recommendations in the report from the Select Committee on Offices or Places of Profit under the Crown which require action other than by means of legislation?

Mr. Attlee

Part 1 of the Select Committee's Report is still under consideration by His Majesty's Government and a further statement will be made in due course. As regards Part 2, I need only deal with paragraph 86, in which the Select Committee considered the position of Members who, by virtue of emergency legislation, are occupying posts which in normal times disqualify for membership. The Government fully endorse the principles set out in this paragraph, and are making special arrangements to bring it to the notice of any Members to whom certificates are issued under the House of Commons Disqualification (Temporary Provisions) Act, 1939.
