HC Deb 18 March 1942 vol 378 c1520W
Mrs. Rathbone

asked the Postmaster-General whether anything further can be done to speed up the delivery of letters to the Forces in the Mediterranean area?

Mr. W. S. Morrison

So far as surface mails are concerned, I am afraid I can hold out no prospect of early improvement in the time of transmission of letters for the Forces in the Mediterranean area. As regards air mails, a considerable improvement has already been effected by the introduction of 3d. air postcards and air-graphs, both of which are conveyed all the way by air to the Middle East, and the possibility of effecting further improvement in air communication with the Forces is being closely examined in collaboration with the Departments concerned.
