HC Deb 17 March 1942 vol 378 cc1340-1W
Major Lyons

asked the Minister of Labour whether the committee considering applications for deferment from national or military service from Entertainments National Service Association is concerned only with those exclusively employed by that organisation or whether part-time or occasional employment by Entertainments National Service Associa- tion qualifies for recommendation by that committee; and what is the minimum age limit?

Mr. Tomlinson

The committee normally advises the Department only on applications for deferment of calling up of whole-time employees of the Entertainments National Service Association. According to my information, there have been very few cases in which the committee has recommended deferment of calling up of men not exclusively employed by that organisation. Unless there are exceptional circumstances, deferment is not granted to men employed by the Association who are under 30 years of age.
