HC Deb 10 March 1942 vol 378 c934W
Mr. Muff

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of War Transport whether he is aware that 46 men have lost their lives in certain docks during the black-out; and whether he will take steps to have some form of lighting for the safety of men who, in the course of their duties, must use these docks?

Mr. Noel-Baker

I am aware that a number of men have lost their lives through falling into the docks during the black-out, and a fresh review is now being made of the safety arrangements at the principal ports. Recommendations have already been made to the port authorities for the removal or mitigation of the principal causes of the accidents which have happened; other measures are being considered.
