HC Deb 05 March 1942 vol 378 c813W
Mr. Rhys Davies

asked the Home Secretary what response has been received from local authorities and voluntary bodies to the Joint Memorandum on Juvenile Delinquency; and whether he is satisfied with such response?

Mr. H. Morrison

I have received reports of many local conferences which have taken place as a result of the joint memorandum on juvenile offences issued last year by the then President of the Board of Education and myself. These conferences, wherever they have been held, seem to have served a most useful purpose, but neither my right hon. Friend the present President of the Board of Education nor I would venture to say that there is not much more which could be done by means of the co-operation suggested. The situation is being watched and further action will be taken if thought to be necessary.
