HC Deb 04 March 1942 vol 378 c663W
Sir H. Williams

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of War Transport whether his attention has been drawn to the fact that the Great Western Railway now prohibit on Sundays the admission to the platforms at Paddington Station of persons with platform tickets desiring to attend the departure of friends; and whether the decision has the approval of the Railway Executive Committee?

Mr. Noel-Baker

Owing to the heavy passenger traffic at Paddington on Sundays, especially in the evenings, and the consequent congestion of the platforms, it was found necessary to stop the admission of persons other than travellers. It has now been arranged that the prohibition shall apply only after 3.30 p.m.
