HC Deb 04 March 1942 vol 378 cc664-5W
Mr. Leslie

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether any protest has been made over the machine-gunning of a lighthouse on a northern island whereby the wife of a lighthouse keeper was killed?

Mr. Law

No, Sir. In view of the enemy's well-known disregard for the rights of non-combatants, it was not considered that any useful purpose would be served by such a protest.
