HC Deb 03 March 1942 vol 378 cc522-3W
Sir R. Glyn

asked the Home Secretary how many persons, male and female, are now undergoing terms of imprisonment of one month, or over, for offences against Defence Regulations; how many of these are juveniles; and what steps are being taken to ensure that extra accommodation is made available so that young persons do not associate with persons of criminal type?

Mr. H. Morrison

I regret that the particulars asked for in the first two parts of the Question are not available. As regards the last part, the prison rules require that prisoners under twenty-one years of age shall, so far as possible, be kept apart from all other classes of prisoners. This requirement is carefully observed, and the provision of the necessary accommodation for the purpose has not hitherto presented any undue difficulty.
