Mr. McNeilasked the Minister of Health whether he is aware that, under the scheme of the Ministry of Labour for the training and resettlement of disabled persons which applies to tuberculosis ex-patients, but only to those capable of whole-time employment under ordinary conditions, many ex-patients, considered by their tuberculosis officers to be suitable for part-time employment, are being compelled still either to remain idle or to return to full-time work with the risk of relapse; and whether he proposes to take any action in the light of the suggestions in the report of the committee of the 45W Tuberculosis Association, that the principle of temporary, part-time or half-time employment with subsidised wages is essential for the rehabilitation of ex-patients with quiescent disease?
§ Mr. E. BrownYes, Sir. This question is one of those that are being considered jointly by the various Departments concerned with the rehabilitation of disabled persons in general.
