§ Captain CrookshankI have been asked to reply. The total expenditure incurred 1993W on the construction and equipment of Singapore during the period mentioned by my hon. Friend was approximately £18,234,000. The following contributions were received towards the cost of the work:
In addition to these contributions the Straits Settlement Government presented the site of the Naval Base, and land for military defences amounting in value to approximately £146,000
