HC Deb 24 June 1942 vol 380 c1998W
Mr. Garro Jones

asked the Minister of Supply whether he is aware that certain periodicals obtain paper additional to their quota by importing printed sheets and binding them with sheets printed in Britain; and whether he will consider deducting from the quota of these publications an amount of paper equal to the printed import?

Sir A. Duncan

I understand that a few publications use imported printed sheets in addition to any ration of paper they may be allowed. Such sheets may only be imported under licence, and the matter is under consideration with the Board of Trade with a view to the position being clarified under a new direction to take effect from 1st July next.
