HC Deb 24 June 1942 vol 380 c1992W
Sir Smedley Crooke

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether in the case of a widow in receipt of a pension in connection with her late husband's death through war service, he will consider the advisability of exempting this portion of income from Income Tax?

Sir K. Wood

I am afraid I cannot see my way to propose the alteration of the Income Tax law necessary to give effect to my hon. Friend's suggestion. Similar proposals have, on several occasions, been considered and rejected in Finance Bill Debates.
