HC Deb 09 June 1942 vol 380 c940W
Sir H. Morris-Jones

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he is aware that on 29th to 30th May, 40 new 30 cwt. lorries were delivered to certain battalions when they were on the point of returning from camp to more permanent quarters; and why the lorries were not delivered direct to the latter places thereby saving several thousands of gallons of petrol?

Sir J. Grigg

Yes, Sir. I am aware of these facts. The problem involved is not an easy one since the movements of units have often to take place at short notice. This incident has however brought to light defects in the current procedure which I am taking steps to remedy.
