HC Deb 09 June 1942 vol 380 cc932-3W
Sir E. Graham-Little

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food what proportion of damaged imported flour is allowed, as set out in the instruction issued to controlled millers, C.M.C. No. 174, and dated 19th March, to be added to the flour for national bread; and to what expert examination it is submitted to ascertain its suitability for human consumption?

Major Lloyd George

Flour, both home-milled and imported, which has been damaged, is inspected by an expert flour salvage officer, and flour which can be reconditioned for human consumption is sent to a flour mill for such reconditioning and mixing in. The rate of mixing in depends on the quantity concerned and various technical factors.
