HC Deb 30 July 1942 vol 382 c707W
Mr. Bowles

asked the Home Secretary whether, in the event of the borough police forces being merged with county police forces, the borough constable's right of appeal in disciplinary cases will be safeguarded in the manner recommended by the Select Committee on Police Forces (Amalgamation), 1932?

Mr. H. Morrison

The recommendation to which my hon. Friend refers was considered when the regulations on the amalgamation of police forces were being prepared, but I came to the conclusion that it would not be practicable to apply the disciplinary procedure now obtaining in borough forces to cases where a borough has been merged with a county.
