§ Sir P. Hannonasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he will inform the House on the progress that is being made through the British Council for the exchange of scientific information between British and Soviet scientists; and if the agreement between the Anglo-Soviet Relations Association and the British Council is operating satsfactorily?
§ Mr. LawSome 50 inquiries from British men of science and scientific institutions have already been forwarded through the Council to Soviet scientific institutions in the last eight months. Exchange of information has been encouraged by the formation by the British Council and Ministry of Information of a joint advisory committee of British men of science, whose chairman is Sir John Russell of the Ministry of Information, and vice-chairman and secretary officials of the British Council. So far as I am aware relations betwen the British Council and the Anglo-Soviet Public Relations Association are perfectly satisfactory.
