HC Deb 29 July 1942 vol 382 cc522-3W
Major Petherick

asked the Minister of Information why Mr. J. B. Priestley has been allowed to broadcast views tending to show that the Nazi party and the rest of the German people are different and that they should be considered and treated separately, whereas those who were anxious to broadcast the contrary view were not permitted to do so?

Mr. Bracken

My hon. and gallant Friend is referring no doubt to a broadcast by Mr. Priestley in the North American Service entitled "Allies inside Germany." I do not know what other case he has in mind, but I am assured by the B.B.C. that they certainly would not turn any broadcast down just because it contained views contrary to those expressed on this occasion by Mr. Priestley.
