HC Deb 29 July 1942 vol 382 cc532-3W
Mr. A. Edwards

asked the Minister of Aircraft Production whether he is aware that not less than 38,000 gallons of aviation spirit is used daily on aero-engine tests; and to what extent steps have been taken by his Department to convert this into electrical energy, thereby avoiding the complete waste of valuable fuel?

Colonel Llewellin

While I do not accept the consumption figure set out in the Question, it is a fact that large quantities of fuel are used in testing aero engines. Experimental plants have already been laid down for the purpose my hon. Friend has in mind.
