HC Deb 28 July 1942 vol 382 cc341-2W
Mr. Mander

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Works and Planning whether consideration has been given to the question of making use of the metal in slot machines for the purpose of munitions?

Mr. Hicks

Yes, Sir. Over 5,000 machines weighing nearly 300 tons have been recovered as scrap metal for war production.

Mr. Parker

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Works and Planning whether he is aware that many railings separating one garden from another are being left when those fronting the public highway are removed; and whether he will instruct local authorities to remove all unnecessary railings?

Mr. Hicks

I have nothing to add to the reply which I gave to a similar Question by my hon. Friend on 24th June last. In order to remind him, I am sending him a copy.
