Mr. De la Bèreasked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury what are the present duties and salary of the Government cinematograph adviser; whether he is still attached to His Majesty's Stationery Office; and in what way are his functions related to those of the film section of the Ministry of Information?
§ Captain CrookshankThe Government cinematograph adviser is still attached to340W His Majesty's Stationery Office and is paid a salary of £1,000 a year. His duties are as stated in a memorandum prepared by the Treasury and issued as Appendix 7 (b) to the 12th Report from the Select Committee on National Expenditure, Session 1940–41. Broadly speaking, they consist of advising the Service Departments in regard to their films for training, war records and welfare, and also the National Savings Committee, and are distinct from those of the films division of the Ministry of Information, which cover the production and distribution of publicity films on behalf of the Government. The arrangements provide for co-operation between the Ministry of Information and the Government cinematograph adviser.
