HC Deb 23 July 1942 vol 382 cc189-90W
Mr. David Adams

asked the Minister of Health whether he is aware of complaints of members of the Amalgamated Engineering Union resident in the Sunderland area that tuberculous patients, owing to the shortage of nurses, are unable to obtain prompt treatment and that patients requiring the same are compelled to wait months before admission to sanatoria; and whether steps will be taken to remedy this disability?

Mr. E. Brown

I have not received complaints to the effect suggested in the first part of the Question, but if my hon. Friend can let me have further particulars I will look into them. My information is that on 30th June last there was in Sunderland a waiting list of eight and that the nursing staff for sanatorium beds is very little below establishment.
