§ Mr. Hannahasked the Secretary of State for War on what principles soldiers are released to help on farms; and will he make this easier where strong grounds can be shown?
§ Mr. SandysThe release of soldiers from the Army for agricultural purposes is governed by the same principles as release for other purposes of national importance. Upon the recommendation of the Ministry of Agriculture cases are examined by a joint committee of the War Office and the Ministry of Labour and National Service, who consider the relative value of the man's services to agriculture and in the Army. If this committee so recommends, the soldier will normally be released.
