§ Mr. Sorensenasked the Secretary of War whether he will be able to publish in the near future the total number of prisoners taken by the Japanese; at what rate the names and descriptions of prisoners are now being received; and whether he has any further information regarding their treatment?
§ Sir J. GriggWe have received some lists of names of United Kingdom Service and civilian personnel captured at Hong Kong. These lists continue to come in, and the number of names notified to this country up to the present date is about 2,500. I have no further information about the full list in respect of Malaya. With regard to the second part of the Question, I regret that I have as yet no further reliable information to give to my hon. Friend regarding the treatment of our prisoners by the Japanese.
