HC Deb 14 July 1942 vol 381 c1099W
Mr. Welsh

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power whether he is aware that Mr. J. McGarva was dismissed from his position of fireman at Cardowan Colliery, Lanarkshire, in April; that the case was tried before the appeal tribunal on 20th May and the tribunal decided that Mr. McGarva was to be restored to his work as a fireman; that the manager refused to start him and it was only on 3rd June he was allowed to start in the colliery as a repairer; and will he take steps to prevent the manager disregarding the decisions of the tribunal and see that Mr. McGarva is restored to his former place?

Major Lloyd George

The case of Mr. McGarva has been the subject of investigation. As a result I am glad to say that he has been reinstated as a fireman.
