§ Mr. Bellengerasked the Secretary of State for War what is the amount of ration allowance with which officer prisoners of war are credited; and what was the amount of the recent increase?
§ Sir J. GriggUnder the Convention officer prisoners in Italy are required to pay for their food, which they do out of pay advanced by the Italian Government. They are therefore credited here with an appropriate ration allowance. In view of the rise in costs in Italy this was increased from 1s. 8d. to 3s. 0d. a day with effect from 1st January, 1942. Under reciprocal arrangements with the German Government officer prisoners in Germany are provided with free rations.
