HC Deb 21 January 1942 vol 377 c373W
Captain Gammans

asked the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he is in a position to say what has happened to the Sultans of the Malay States which have been overrun by the Japanese?

Mr. George Hall

According to the latest information, the rulers of the States occupied by the Japanese have by their own wish remained in their States, with the exception of the Rajah of Perlis who joined the Sultan of Perak. No news has been received of their Highnesses since the occupation of their States, but the High Commissioner has conveyed to them by broadcast an assurance that it is the intention of His Majesty's Government to see them righted in our final victory.
