HC Deb 21 January 1942 vol 377 c377W
Mr. Purbrick

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether, in view of the financial embarrassment of the Vichy Government, any offers have been made by the United States of America or ourselves to acquire, on a financial basis, the use of the French African ports of Bizerta, Dakar and Casablanca?

Mr. Eden

His Majesty's Government have made no such offer, and I am not aware that the United States Government have done so.
