§ Mr. R. Morganasked the Minister of Labour the composition of the manpower appeal boards; and what measure of representation the Civil Service will have on them?
§ Mr. AsshetonThe forty-four district man-power boards are composed of officers of the Ministry of Labour and National Service, more than half of whom have been specially appointed from outside the Civil Service. The Boards ordinarily consist of a chairman and four other members, one of whom is a woman. No industry or service has special representation on the boards. The calling up of civil servants is determined on the advice of a special committee, of which Lord Kennet is the Chairman.
