Youngasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of War Transport whether he is aware that there is a toll, at a bridge of which he has been informed, which costs workmen 5s. per week in going to and from their employment; that for some of these men the alternative route is 18 miles for a single journey instead of 8½ miles; and will he take steps to relieve war workers, some of whom are evacuated persons, of this charge?
§ Colonel LlewellinFrom inquiries that I have made, I find that the toll over the bridge in question is ½d. each way for a foot passenger and 1d. each way for a cyclist. I do not see any reason to modify these small charges.
