HC Deb 19 February 1942 vol 377 c1913W
Major Whiteley

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he will expedite the appointment of lady welfare officers for the county of Buckinghamshire; whether, on appointment, they will become members of the Auxiliary Territorial Service, and, if so, in what rank?

Mr. Sandys

One lady welfare officer has already been appointed in the County of Buckinghamshire, but her application for an honorary commission in the Auxiliary Territorial Service has only just reached the War Office. All lady welfare officers are eligible to be considered for honorary commissions in the Auxiliary Territorial Service if they so desire, in the rank (unpaid) of Junior Commander.
